Working on the collaborative collection at Austral was a dynamic and enriching process. It pushed me to merge diverse perspectives while maintaining a clear creative direction. Through close teamwork and open dialogue, we were able to develop a cohesive line that reflected both individual strengths and a shared vision, resulting in a collection that felt both innovative and unified.
Downwind
Collection
The Downwind Collection was my first experience designing high-performance apparel for extreme sports, specifically kitesurfing. I was responsible for quality approval, material testing, and ensuring our designs met strict standards for durability, UV protection, water resistance, and comfort.
One major challenge was learning to work with technical fabrics and balancing performance with design. I collaborated with suppliers, researched innovative materials, and helped develop key pieces like a waterproof backpack with anti-wicking treatment and UV-resistant PVC.
This project expanded my skills in technical design, problem-solving, and material innovation. It taught me how to think beyond aesthetics and prioritize function—an experience that made me a stronger and more versatile designer.
